Trish Summerville Wins Outstanding Fantasy Film Award

Costume designer Trish Summerville has won the Outstanding Fantasy Film Award from the Costume Designers Guild Awards for her work on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

“I kind of lost my voice because I’ve been shooting (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) for a 100+ days and we finished today. I’m really honored to be here. I really am humbled because there’s a lot of talent in this room. I’m honored because it’s our peers. It’s nice to be recognized for the hard work we do. I’d like to thank a lot of people, especially my crew. It takes a tribe and a village to get work done in film these days. I’d like to thank the cast, who was lovely and let me torture them, especially Elizabeth Banks.  I want to thank my family and my friends who are always there for me. And my mom and dad, who taught me about hard work. And my wife, who puts up with a lot of shit.”

The speech is a bit confusing as Lionsgate had recently confirmed with the Hollywood Reporter that costume designers Bart Mueller and Kurt Swanson would be leading costume design for the final two films. However, since Mockingjay 1 is reportedly complete, sounds like Trish Summerville was completing her work for Part 1 while the pair who did Dallas Buyers Club will be heading up Part 2. Mockingjay Part 2 is rumored to be completed in Europe.
