German film portal Movie-infos.de is reporting that the release date for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 has been moved ahead in Germany, to Thursday, November 13th, 2014. This puts the German release one week ahead of the release in the United States and most other countries, which is currently slated for Friday, November 21st.
While there hasn’t been confirmation from Lionsgate or Studiocanal, the German distributor, about this date; there’s a precedent, as this isn’t the first time the movie is released early in certain countries. If you remember, last year Catching Fire was also released early in Brazil, and a similar situation is set for Mockingjay Part 1 (the Brazilian release date is November 15th).
It’s possible this early release date has something to do with the expansion of the agreement between Lionsgate and Studiocanal, with Mockingjay Part 1 being the first Lionsgate film to fall under the “new” deal, as reported by Variety.
We’re not sure what this early release date will mean for any events that usually take place prior to the movie’s wide release, such as the German premiere, but we’ll let you know as soon as more information is made available!
