Woody Harrelson Earns Lead Actor Emmy Nomination for ‘True Detective’


The nominations for the 2014 Emmy Awards, honoring the best of television, were announced just this morning, and our Hunger Games family is well represented! Woody Harrelson, who plays Haymitch Abernathy in our franchise, has been nominated in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category for his role of Det. Hart in HBO’s hit drama¬†True Detective.

In this category, Woody will be competing against his co-lead Matthew McConaughey, as well as several other big names in the industry:

Bryan Cranston, “Breaking Bad”
Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”
Woody Harrelson, “True Detective”
Matthew McConaughey, “True Detective”
Kevin Spacey, “House of Cards”
Jeff Daniels, “The Newsroom”

Woody has been nominated for several Emmys in the past, for his performances in Cheers, Frasier and more recently the TV miniseries Game Change. He won in the category of Supporting Actor for his role in Cheers. Through his career he’s more than proven his great caliber as an actor, and we wish him all the luck with this latest nomination!
