Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason Get “Living Portraits”

It appears the Capitol has stepped up their game from last year’s Catching Fire’s Portraits in this picture from Nydailynews. Johanna Mason and Peeta Mellark’s “Living Portraits” make a clear statement that they are property of the Capitol. As they rotate in a 360 degree angle it is a reminder that the Capitol sees everything. And the white rose petals, President Snow’s token Katniss has come to hate, are raining down over Peeta and Johanna showing their fate is unescapable.

These are no doubt a not-so-subtle counter move towards Katniss, who burned the image of the Mockingjay into our minds as she spun during her interview with Ceasar Flickerman, revealing the regal black wings from the ashes foreshadowing the theme of “If we burn, you burn with us.”

Is Your skin crawling and spine tingling yet?

How do you feel about the new style of  the Capitol’s “Living Portraits?” Do they make your heart sink or make  you want to leap into a rescue mission? Spark a discussion with us below.
