Scholastic UK To Release Rebel Special Editions For ‘The Hunger Games’ Trilogy

Rebel-Hunger-Games

Scholastic UK announced today via their Facebook page that on October 2, they will be releasing special “rebel” editions of The Hunger Games trilogy. The covers are, to put it bluntly, pretty off the mark.

We’re trying to control our feelings here at Jabberjays.net, but with such a teeny bop, bubble gum vibe to them, these covers almost seem like they’re mocking the mockingjay. Is this what it takes to get young adults to read one of the most inspirational series for young adults ever written?

To quote Haymitch, “And that, my friends, is how a revolution dies.”

Still, if you like them, you can enter to win a set by sharing their image on Facebook. The contest is restricted to the UK.

    October 2nd.
    Berry’s birthday.

  • Naomi

It looks like a rainbow threw up all over them. BARF!!! I’m with you Crystal. Love the use of the Haymitch quote there by the way.

    • Haha, thanks! Thought he said it all. 🙂

  • Noveon

Ew… looks like the Capitol designed them. :/

  • Lars

I have one word for it. Ugly

  • Louise Mossige

    Oh no! Please no!
And I always loved the sombre, mysterious black covers that seemed to fit the story so well..
The only thing I can think of is these are supposed to look like graffiti. But in those colors??? I hope everyone boycotts them..

  • Babs

No, No, No!!! This looks like every other book on the shelves at the middle school book fair I am doing. This is not a light hearted series and the bright, cheerful covers should not give the impression that it is. Just Yuk!

  • Shane

Awee, they should have gone with a more Iron, rustic, metal door looking book covers… not this neon… mess.

  • Mockingjay Whispers

People tend to forget about Katniss’ personal vendetta…
