We get more details about the third installment including the length of the first assembly cut of Mockingjay Part 1, the decision of the split and how the idea changed (slightly), there are more deleted scenes in Part 1 than there were in Catching Fire (10-12 mins of whole scenes lifted out) and they will be headed for the DVD. Two of these deleted scenes include 3 and a half pages of dialogue between President Snow and Peeta; and a scene in the meadow in District 13. Francis also talks about the intriguing possibility of cutting Part 1 and Part 2 together to play without credits in the theatre back to back. Also touched upon was the decision not to shoot in IMAX this time, Lionsgate being a very trusting studio to work for, what shape The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is in right now and what’s next (it probably won’t be a superhero movie).
Lots to chew on in this interview, cannot wait for those deleted scenes!
