Yesterday, the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) announced the nominees for their 2014 awards, noting that James Newton Howard had received seven nominations split between his work on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Maleficent. Howard’s nominations for Mockingjay 1 include:

  • BEST ORIGINAL SCORE FOR AN ACTION/ADVENTURE/THRILLER FILM
  • FILM MUSIC COMPOSITION OF THE YEAR

Funnily enough, Howard is taking up a whopping three spots in the Film Music Composition of the Year category with two songs from Maleficent and The Hanging Tree. Howard is also nominated for Composer of the Year.
