Louise Minchin of BBC Breakfast sat down for a lovely chat with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. They talk about clinging to each with pre-seperation anxiety while shooting in Berlin, even riding in the same car to and from set. They’ve leveled out and they are less co-dependent now: they ride in separate cars for instance. Liam Hemsworth talks about the high and lows of press tours and the odd feeling of such immense adrenaline at a premiere and then silence after.
They talk about who trains the most, “I can’t get these arms without work!” retorts Jennifer. The loss of Philip Seymour Hoffman from set and how lucky they felt to have worked with him is touched upon. Jennifer talks about the wage gap and why she spoke out about her own lack of being aggressive. Josh steps in and talks about the shocking gap between male and female pay in every industry.
Jennifer honestly recounts how different it is to walk around London and the psychology of always being watched in public and how even her privacy was violated in her own home. Liam and Josh also added they too have constant awareness about being watched no matter where they are in public. Jennifer talks about going through a German man’s phone, deleting pictures he took while she was eating schnitzel in Berlin and told him not to be so rude (three finger salute, Jen).
Jennifer reiterates that she doesn’te change her diet for kissing scenes and they all share an inside joke by calling Liam a bear… we may never find out the basis of this joke!
Note: If you’ve been avoiding clips the Katniss and Peeta and Katniss and Johanna scenes are included in this interview.
Thanks to Jennifer Updates!
