New Extended Scene From The Hunger Games: Katniss and Gale in the Woods

Hollywood.com have released an extended scene from The Hunger Games. The scene is of Katniss and Gale in their place that overlooks the valley, in the woods outside District 12. The new footage – which is cut a little differently than the theatrical release and continues after Gale mentions how many times his name is in the reaping bowl – contains hints to the tesserae system of the books.

Considering Katniss later tells Prim not to accept food from the Captiol in exchange for putting her name in more times for the Reaping, this omission seems understandable.

If you are outside the US, you can view the clip thanks to Quarter Quell who have uploaded the video on their Tumblr.

The Hunger Games Complete 4-Film Collection is available now on Digitial HD and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 22nd.

Puh, for I moment there I thought I wouldn’t get to watch it. Thanks to both Jabberjays and QuarterQuell 🙂
I love getting this new stuff from the first movie! The camera angle seems different for this one, filmed from the front.
A lot of people were confused about the tesserae system, so whether it was a good idea to leave that part out, I don’t know. It’s nice to know the original plan was to explain it more.

I know Katniss mentions the system to Prim later on, but I think they should have left the whole scene in the movie, because when I went to see the movie with other people (who didn’t read the book), one of them asked me right after this scene why Gale had his name x amount of time in the bowl and how it worked. And I had to explain it to him… So I think it should have been explained right away…

I like the scene in the movie. Not sure the extended scene would have been better. No chemistry at all. The deleted scene between K & P had more emotional punch.
