The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror films has announced the nominees for the 40th Annual Saturn Awards, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is up for seven categories:
- Best Science Fiction Film
- Best Actress (Jennifer Lawrence)
- Best Supporting Actress (Jena Malone)
- Best Director (Francis Lawrence)
- Best Editing (Alan Edward Bell)
- Best Production Design (Philip Messina)
- Best Costume (Trish Summerville)
In most of these categories, the movie will be competing against other big sci-fi/fantasy blockbusters such as Gravity, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (both of which lead the nominations with 8 each), Iron Man 3, Pacific Rim and Star Trek Into Darkness.
Last year, the first movie was nominated for two awards: Best Science Fiction Film and Best Actress for Jennifer Lawrence. Out of those, only the latter was a victory. Let’s hope with seven nominations this year, the franchise stands a better chance!
