UK Release Date Set for ‘Serena’ + New Still of Jennifer Lawrence in Title Role

Independent film Serena, starring our very own Jennifer Lawrence and frequent co-star Bradley Cooper, has been in a bit of a limbo since it wrapped production in 2012, but today Stylist Magazine brings good news: the project finally has a release date, at least in the United Kingdom, and it’s coming up soon – October 24th.

The movie, which is based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Ron Nash, depicts the story of Serena Pemberton, played by Jen, and her relationship with her husband George, in 1920’s North Carolina. According to the official synopsis:

George and Serena Pemberton, love-struck newly-weds, begin to build a timber empire. Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. However, once Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pemberton’s passionate marriage begins to unravel leading toward a dramatic reckoning.

According to Indiewire, the film is 102 minutes long, and more European release dates are expected soon, although there’s no word on a US release yet. The article on Stylist was also accompanied by a new still of Jennifer as Serena Pemberton, which you can see above.

What do you think of this news? Have you been waiting for a release date for this movie? Will you be watching Serena in theaters once it’s made available in your country? Tell us in a comment!
