Charitybuzz is known for holding auctions for tickets to US premieres of films in The Hunger Games franchise as a way to support specific charities. They did it with The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, and they’re continuing that line of work this year.
This week, a Charitybuzz auction went online for tickets to the New York premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. This not only confirms that there will be a premiere in New York (although the date is given as “November TBD,” so we don’t know exactly when it will happen), but it also gives those with sufficient means a chance to meet the cast on the red carpet at this event, as “personal guests” of producer Jon Kilik.
The auction will be open until Tuesday, October 7th at 3:55 pm ET, and is currently standing at $7500 after 8 bids. Proceeds will go to support the Kristen Ann Carr Fund, which according to the website, “provides grants for cancer research and seeks to improve all aspects of cancer patient life with an emphasis on adolescents and young adults.” The contest is open to US residents who are 13-years-old or above, and travel and accommodations are not included.
Good luck to anyone who’s participating, and be sure to stay tuned to our site as we’ll be sure to post if we get new information about a possible date/location for this event.
