VIDEO: Francis Lawrence Says Lorde Was Originally Covering ‘The Hanging Tree’

HitFix sat down with Francis Lawrence to talk about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack. Francis said he would listen to the soundtracks of Catching Fire and Gravity while shooting and how Lorde became apart of the production to curate the soundtrack instead of studio executives. Originally the plan was to have Lorde cover ‘The Hanging Tree.’

Nothing against Lorde but I much prefer ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ followed by Jennifer’s version of ‘The Hanging Tree’ in the credits.
