VIDEO: Lorde on Curating Mockingjay Part 1 Soundtrack

At the Golden Globe Awards yesterday, Lorde spoke to Ryan Seacrest about curating The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack on E! Live From the Red Carpet.

Ryan Seacrest: So when you started to put together this soundtrack what was the vision you began with? What did you want to accomplish?

Lorde: I feel like the movie is kind of different to the other ones. Kind of dark, kind of brooding. You definitely feel like something intense was going to happen in the next sequel so it’s kind of about, for me, keeping it simmering. That was what I wanted it to do- to simmer. So for the artists I kind of gave them that note.

RS: Did you feel a lot of presseure doing this?

Lorde: Yeah a tiny bit. A tiny bit.

The young singer also spoke about her fashion of the evening, about fellow Hunger Games soundtrack alumni Taylor Swift and feeling like fans of the movies are her friends. Lorde’s ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ was nominated last night but lost out to Selma.
