In case you’ve been living away from the internet over the past few days (come back, it’s October, Hunger Games marketing in full swing, baby!), the brand new issue of Entertainment Weekly is chock full of new stills, facts and an interview with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. The lovely Mockingjaysource have provided the exceptional scans below.
The article mostly consists of the interview with Jen, Josh and Liam. Together they discuss Part 2 as the best movie of the series, reflections on the first movie in 2012, not letting such iconic characters overwhelm their career, the price of fame (with interesting insight from Lawrence), the frequent sleepovers they have together (where they don’t have sex), what they were most anxious to film from Part 2, what they took from their last day on set, the exhibit’s new name: ‘Jennifer Lawrenceville’, the last day of filming (Josh and Liam were drunk after finishing a bottle of Scotch!) and the impact The Hunger Games films have had on the world.
The article also includes fun facts such as Jennifer dancing annonymously at an Elvis Costello concert, Lady the Goat was originally on set in the first film but had to be cut ’cause of the damn weather, Nina Jacobson’s guilt at firing the original Buttercup and how Johanna was originally pegged to be a Latina actress.
It’s so difficult to pick a favourite, profound or most relevant quote from this article. It’s genuinely a treat with all the fun facts we haven’t been privy to before and Jennifer, Josh and Liam being as hilarious now as they were when we first encountered them together. But perhaps I’ll pick just one quote that sums up our feelings going in to this last chapter of such an engaging and thought provoking story:
Francis Lawrence: “When you get to the end, you just feel the entire history of what these characters have been through. It’s part of what makes this movie all the more satisfying.”
