First Full Review of ‘Mockingjay’ Part 2 Hits the Web Via Man vs Pink

It may still feel like an eternity to you, the time until The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 officially hits theaters, but the truth is that there are some lucky, lucky people out there who have already seen the film, and today, the very first full review of the movie hit the web (probably breaking embargo but shhhh, don’t tell anyone).

Simon from Man vs Pink calls the movie “a thrilling end to an intelligent action adventure saga,” being very complimentary to it despite admitting that he felt lukewarm about the series before and around the time the first movie came out. He praises the franchise for finding ways to be engaging despite the fact that the “government-sanctioned death match” plot has been used many times, applauds Jennifer Lawrence for elevating the female action hero, and exalts the action sequences. He also comments that Philip Seymour Hoffman doesn’t feel absent at all, as one would expect.

His main negative points are few, mainly parts of the film that feel too lengthy, and some characters not getting enough screen time for his taste. (He’s admits that not familiar with the books, though, so maybe that was by design). Overall, the review reads overwhelmingly positive.

You can read the full review over at his website (…if he’s not asked to take it down…), but be warned: it does include mild spoilers. If you don’t want to know anything about the movie, you might want to just take our word for it.
