Jennifer Lawrence At Joy New York Screening and Press Conference

She’s just finished a world tour for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, she’s still filming Passengers and now she’s joining the campaign for Joy. When does Jennifer Lawrence sleep? Generating awards buzz for the film, David O. Russell, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Dascha Polanco and Isabella Rossellini attended the first screening in New York and press conference. Reviews are embargoed for another week but many suggest the film will be a contender during the Oscar race with Lawrence’s central performance as a near lock for Best Actress in a Leading Role. After working with Russell in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, Jennifer maintains that this won’t be the last collaboration, saying to Russell:

“I’ll do anything with you until you die. It’s sweet, and it’s fucked up.”

Russell compares the central role of Joy Mangano and Jennifer Lawrence’s own meteroic rise:

“I watched Jennifer become a success from being a kid of 20 years old, and learning how to handle success is not simple or pretty… I think it was the first character we’ve done together that was not crazy.”

‘Deep In The Meadow’ is also not the last time we’ll hear Jennifer sing on screen. She has a duet with Edgar Ramirez in Joy, singing the Frank and Nancy Sinatra song ‘Somethin’ Stupid.’ Following the infamous anxiety she had singing ‘The Hanging Tree,’ she was asked how David O. Russell convinced her to sing on celluloid again:

“He’s a dick. But David’s so unafraid … he’ll just sing throughout the day on the set, and he’s so open that my fear seemed silly.”
Of the resulting scene, she admitted to Russell, “It was a sweet moment. I fought you over it, but I’m glad we did it.”

Joking of what characters her and Bradley Cooper will play in their next film with Russell, Jennifer quipped:

“For the continuation of our boxed set? He’ll be a dog walker and I’ll be a barista.”

You can see very brief footage of the press conference that in reality lasts just nine seconds long but, for reasons only the uploader can know, continues for another minute and a half until the audio distorts in to what can only be described as the sound design of a horror film. Just to warn you:
