Lionsgate ‘Working Closely’ With Suzanne Collins on Hunger Games Prequel Movie

News today that a new Hunger Games novel is coming in 2020 has the fandom abuzz, and hot on the heels of that announcement is reporting from The Hollywood Reporter.

“As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie,” Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said Monday in a statement.

Since the book will take place 64 years before The Hunger Games, this would mean an all-new cast and few familiar names—with the possible exception of Mags Flanagan, who according to previous promotional material for the film, won the 11th Hunger Games, which would be the year following the prequel’s Games.
